    A step back in time for sure....sitting at the bar drinking coffee listening to the cashier talk to a customer about old trucks. I do believe I heard her say some of the original staff is still employed. To hanging order tickets on clothes pin in the kitchen window. Yes there is smoking. Yes it does have the smell of cigarettes ( its not that bad) but suck it up buttercups...Remember we all drank out of a water hose at some point a little cigarette smell is not going to kill you. The food is good and shannon my server was great. Way better then the chain restaurants I have been to.

    This is a great diner in the middle of Brownwood TX. They have daily lunch specials, and lots of breakfast choices, including their classic breakfast special. I like their patty melt, or their club sandwich the most, but I also really like their bowl of chili on a cold day. Well as cold as it can actually get in Texas anyway. Heads up to travelers, this is a smoking restaurant, part of a dying breed, and even though they have a non smoking section, felt it was worth pointing out.

    Came in during one of their busiest times and the service was still good. Got the special for Tuesday, and I got so much for a great price (chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, green beans, okra gumbo, rolls, and dessert) The chicken fried steak was awesome, and I definitely plan to make this a regular stop when I come to Brownwood.

    Loved it!!!!! We had a large group of people and they handled us with no problem. Prices are very good.

    It was like a good home cooked breakfast. The hash browns were nice crisp and golden, the bacon was a tasty thick cut and the pancakes were just right
